New Year Message from our Regional Director
Happy New Year dear Sisters and Brothers!
Time has marched on and we can be sure that God has been evident in every moment of time – with our ups and downs, in all our frustrations and trials and, above all, in our joys and celebrations – Emanuel God with us! For all of this, with open hearts we praise and thank God.
As a people we were able to come through the earthquake that shook our land and the flooding of the lands that brought disaster and loss to so many. These events called us as a nation to reflect and change, putting our priorities in place. We rely on the God who was with us yesterday, who is with us today and will be with us for the year ahead – 2019. If God is with us, who can be against us…no one, no thing, no trial, no disaster. So we go forth in Faith into the new year.
We need to make time for mercy and compassion to others. We can become so self-absorbed that we are only able to see our own needs and be blind to the needs of others. The story of the Good Samaritan is a wonderful example of making space for mercy and compassion. The man fell among robbers and was dying on the street. Many passed him by, all having great excuses – religion and personal needs – except for the Good Samaritan who made space and time for compassion and mercy and took on the needs of the broken man. This is what God did for us in our brokenness, taking us out of pain and making us children of God. In this New Year 2019, how are we making space for mercy and compassion? Can we allow a breakthrough in our own busy and hectic lives so as to be available to others in their needs?
This is the difference we must make as a community and as a nation. We must witness to the God who came down to us so that we could experience His tremendous mercy and love.
Colossians 3:12
You are God’s chosen race, his saints; he loves you, and you should be clothed in sincere compassion, in kindness and humility, gentleness and patience. Bear with one another; forgive each other as soon as a quarrel begins. The Lord has forgiven you; now you must do the same. Over all these clothes, to keep them together and complete them, put on love. And may the peace of Christ reign in your hearts, because it is for this that you were called together as parts of one body. Always be thankful.
Have a wonderful, blessed and spirit-filled
year 2019………. Love & Prayers Rose
