Message from our Regional Director – Dec 2019

Dear Sisters & Brothers,

Lots of activities, traffic, lines at the cash registers, no parking space – lots of people heading out and around with the Advent of Christmas in mind – all in preparation for Christmas.  In the midst of this busyness we have to be careful not to miss Jesus being birthed in our midst.  Jesus is the reason for the season.

Advent is one of the most beautiful times of the Church’s year.  It is so full of emotions and sentiments of family with the habit of sharing and rejoicing.  It’s a time when we want to reach out and be family.

One of the most beautiful practices is the celebration of the Aurora masses, the experience of God’s people sitting and waiting in the darkness until the sun rises during which time we celebrate the Holy Mass.  This takes place every year at LWC and we invite you to join in as it will make your Advent special as you prepare for Christmas.  It will give you time to slow down, a time to reflect and to really put Jesus in the celebration.  Let us not have a celebration and forget to have Jesus central to our celebrations.  It is like having a party for someone and forgetting to invite them.

May all our preparation be focused on Jesus.  Remember He did not come into the world with pomp and splendor, but humble in a manger.  Look for Him in the smallest things around you, in the face of the most insignificant, the abused child, the battered woman, the homeless, the refugee and the poor and the needy among us. He is there and is birthed over and over in every moment.  Let us go to Him, who is in the arms of Mary as she offers Him to us for our comfort and hope.

“The people who walk in darkness will see a great light. For those who live in a land of deep darkness, a light will shine.”  (Isaiah 9:2)

May this Advent Season be a great time of prayer and joyful celebration and may it bring us to a grace filled blessed Christmas………Rose
