Message from our Regional Director – August 2019

Dear Sisters and Brothers.

Holiday time has broken upon us and we all look forward for a time of rest and relaxation, holiday trips and visits, but this often signals for most of us spring cleaning, renewal, cleansing, freeing up, making space for new things and the demands can go on and on.

This my brothers and sisters, Living Water Family, brings us to a place where, when we look around, we see that our country and the world at large do not fit into our tidy picture, but obstruct us and we cannot be still, experiencing much disease, anxiety and fear… It is chaotic at all levels and we can only attribute this to a going away from God and a turn to materialism and greed. We have erected our golden calf and are made today to drink the waters of suffering, the burnt calf, like the people of Israel who went against God.

We have been blessed; Jesus has redeemed and set us free by His blood. He wants us to drink the waters of salvation, the waters from His heart, “anyone who is thirsty come and drink freely” (Isaiah 55).

It is an invitation for us to come and put our hearts in the heart of our God and receive grace to go on. Jesus reminds us that when we are weak He is strong, when we are poor He is Rich, When we are fearful He is there leading us through the dark night and dark valley (Psalm 23). He invites us to put our hard in His hand, the hand of the “Strong Man”.

Isaiah 41:8-14: “But you, Israel, my servant, Jacob whom I have chosen, descendant of Abraham my friend. Do not be afraid, for I am with you; do not be alarmed, for I am your God. I give you strength, truly I help you, truly I hold you firm with my saving right hand. Look, all those who rage against you will be put to shame and humiliated; those who picked quarrels with you will be reduced to nothing and will perish. You will look for them but will not find them, those who used to fight you; they will be destroyed and brought to nothing, those who made war on you. For I, Yahweh, your God, I grasp you by your right hand; I tell you, ‘Do not be afraid, I shall help you. Do not be afraid, Jacob, you worm! You little handful of Israel! I shall help you, declares Yahweh; your redeemer is the Holy One of Israel.”

As a community we embrace the challenge from Archbishop Jason Gordon to join the 40 Days of Prayer when we will hold our rosaries in our hands and pray for our country and the world at large. That there will be an end to violence, fear and anxiety and that the poor and every human being will feel the favor of God’s blessings. Come on, Sisters and Brothers, let us make that difference by putting our hand in the hand of the Strong One with Mary in our intercession. May this time be turned into a dewfall of blessings. May we drink the water of salvation and not the water of the golden calf of evil and sin. Have a blessed prayer time of trust and confidence in our God…….Rose
