Nun,\u00a0missionary\u00a0and\u00a0teacher\u00a0in Calcutta,\u00a0India\u00a0in\u00a01928. In\u00a01948\u00a0she left the\u00a0convent\u00a0to work alone with the\u00a0poor, and became an\u00a0Indian\u00a0citizen. She founded the\u00a0<em>Congregation of the Missionaries of Charity<\/em>\u00a0in\u00a01950. In\u00a01957\u00a0the\u00a0<em>Missionaries of Charity<\/em>\u00a0started their work with\u00a0lepers\u00a0and in disaster areas. She received the\u00a0<em>Pope\u00a0John XXIII\u00a0Peace Prize<\/em>\u00a0in\u00a01971, the\u00a0<em>Jawaharlal Nehru Award for International Understanding<\/em>\u00a0in\u00a01972, and the\u00a0<em>Nobel Peace Prize<\/em>\u00a0in\u00a01979, and the\u00a0<em>Missionaries<\/em>\u00a0today work in 30 countries.<\/p>\n<p>She was born on 26 August 1910 in Skopje, Albania (modern Macedonia) and died on 5 September 1997 in Calcutta, West Bengal, India of natural causes.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Readings<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Do not wait for leaders; do it alone, person to person.\u00a0<em>\u2013\u00a0Mother\u00a0Teresa<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Let anyone who comes to you go away feeling better and happier. Everyone should see goodness in your face, in your eyes, in your smile. Joy shows from the eyes. It appears when we speak and walk. It cannot be kept closed inside us. It reacts outside. And then we speak to God from the fullness of our heart, and God listens. A free heart can love Christ with an undivided love in chastity, convinced that nothing and nobody will separate it from his love.
